The Unfriendly Atheist
So I had a really bizarre apocalypse type dream the other day: Jesus was vaporizing people and taking them back to heaven. My mother was totally excited about it but I was terrified because I knew I was wrong and was going to burn in hell. I woke up with a horrible feeling. The dream frankly terrified me and I'm scared that I may be wrong in my disbelief though everything I could believe in sounds stupid. Did you ever have strong feelings of doubt and guilt? How did you deal with it?
Anonymous

I don’t have feelings of guilt anymore because I’ve lost the ability to feel human emotion.

When I was a Catholic, I suffered from some pretty intense scruples concerning sins, possible sins, and so on. When I left Catholicism, I still had those feelings of guilt.

I dealt with them initially by bottling them up. Obviously, that’s not a very good way to do it, unless mental illness appeals to you.

I’m not sure what to suggest to you.

Religion is a very powerful thing. The reason it exists, and the mode within it most frequently operates, is not logic, but emotional manipulation.

It’s a very old institution. It’s worked through various ways of controlling people, and it’s gotten quite adept at it.

The fear of the unknown is one of the strongest and most natural fears that humans face. Religion has exploited that to its fullest extent.

You are being threatened by something you cannot logically argue against. You cannot prove to yourself that hell doesn’t exist, and you cannot prove to yourself that you won’t be damned and tortured after death.

But think- that’s no coincidence that this beliefs exist in religion. There’s a reason religion has chosen beliefs that are unable to be disproven; it’s because it’s the most effective way to brainwash and indoctrinate.

You are afraid of hell, not because it’s a possibility or even probability. You are afraid because you can be afraid. You are afraid because Christians figured out the workings of the human psyche long ago and chose to exploit them to their fullest extent.

Know this- if there is a god, and it is benevolent, you have nothing to fear. If it is ambivalent, you have nothing to fear. If it is malevolent, there is nothing you can do.

Your current feelings of doubt and guilt are just side effects of the brainwashing religion forced upon you. Don’t feel bad about it; they’re experts. You aren’t stupid, you’re just another victim of a very effective and very powerful system.

I don’t have much advice to give you, except don’t do what I’ve done. Don’t let it get to you. Take solace in the beauty of this world that you actually know exists, and get comfort from those around you.

It will take a while for the lingering effects of religion to leave you, especially if you’re still exposed to it. If it gets to be too much, or if you start to experience problems, I’d recommend getting professional counseling or help.

Christian Extremist Vs. Muslim Extremist

thecitadelofthebeast:

They both think exactly the same…

1. They both love guns

2. They both hate homosexuals

3. They both want to impose their religion on everyone else.

4. You can’t tell them nothing (I know this is a double negative).

5. They both are fundamentalists.

6. They both believe in using force and coercion to get people to behave the way they want.

7. One is militaristic since it’s mainly located in third world countries, the other is more political.

8. Michelle Bachman is the from the same school of thought as Osama bin laden (yes this an extreme example).

9. They both believe an act of evil in the name of good is justified.

10. They both believe in executions whether beheading or lethally injecting.

11. They both can’t mind their own damn business and are worried about things involving other countries while they have their own problems at home.

12. They both take religious texts literally.

13. They want what they want and they don’t care what happens to anybody else.

14. They both consist of people who hide behind religion.

Note: There are plenty of Christian terror attacks that are ignored by the mainstream media…

A former nurse, Bronnie Ware, has written a book on the regrets of the dying. It really places supporters of atheism and freedom on the spot. Do they really believe in living a life with no consequences and no accountability? If so, I wonder how they feel when death is close. Do they have regrets? Do you wonder about their souls, about an afterlife, about God? If so, then their delusion is only because death seems so far away. When death is close, everybody is a believer.

This bullshit is insulting. Taking advantage of someone’s fear of death is not proof of God. We are not deluded to not believe in something that is nothing more than a hypothesis.

Religion vs. Spirituality. Overcoming fear and boundaries.

realmofspirits:

So I was driving to the store today and seen this church billboard literally encouraging people to come and “fear the lord” with them.

Now let me just say, I’m not against any religion, I’m friends with people from all paths. But the idea of this concept really makes me need to give a bloody good rant! And do note, this uses fear the lord only as an example. I’m not targeting Christianity or telling anyone what to believe. I’m simply stressing that fear and spirituality do not belong together.

* * *

“Fear the Lord!” I was taught as a child, and it made me ask a lot of questions that nobody really liked to hear.
“Why fear God if he really is so merciful?”
“If you actually trust him, how could you fear him?”
“Can you really love something you fear?”

The mere thought of there being fear in my spiritual path sounds so disgusting and horrid. It’s an emotion that has nothing to do with spirituality. Spirituality should evoke feelings of unity, love, and serenity. It should wash away your fear and pain, not invoke it!

And it really leaves me feeling uncomfortable. I don’t know if it’s because it’s essentially a control mechanism wearing the mask of the divine, that people are actually okay with fearing the divine, or that people are willing to change not for themselves, but out of fear of what may happen if they don’t.

Let’s get something clear. That’s pointless. That’s like someone who absolutely hates you pretending to be nice out of fear of looking like a bitch and getting shunned by their peers. The bitch is still a bitch. Doing something good for the wrong reasons doesn’t make you good! One has to change because they want to BE a better person. Not because they’re scared of what may happen if they don’t! That just makes you a two-faced coward with selfish intent.

And I guess this is where the separation of religion and spirituality comes in. I’m probably going to get a lot of negative backlash over this and I can’t blame anyone. I’m just going to say it anyway… If you think you are oh so holy and yet your entire life is based off of fear or potential rewards, then you do not know the divine. Your about as spiritual as a fucking shoe box. And if you are religious but not spiritual, you are also a huge hypocrite. Spirituality isn’t about fear of consequences or behaving for treats in the afterlife. It may not sound nice, but can anyone deny it and tell me the opposite is true?

See, religion is knowledge. It’s like studying anatomy and knowing what every part of the body is called and what it looks like. Spirituality on the other hand is experience and immersion and application. It’s like knowing how to connect those body parts together, work with them, and create some benefit from it. What good is knowledge if you don’t know how to use that knowledge? What good is knowing all the stories of God, if you do not actually know God himself?

You can be the most religious person on the planet, but of you aren’t spiritual, if you haven’t really connected to the universe and the divine, what is the point? What is the point of knowing that which you have not touched or felt? What is the point of reading books on religion your entire life if you have never felt the true love and unity that comes from connecting with the divine? What good comes from worshipping something that invokes fear?

There comes a time to become brave and embrace that which the world says we should fear. To stop being the slave of fear and allow ourselves to become one with the divine.

Then again, perhaps Fearing the Lord is just a phrase. If so, I have never heard a more self-contradicting phrase in my life. But I can honestly say, I was raised to fear the lord and it did not bring me to him. And from that fear stemmed fears of many other things; hell, sin, and all the “evil” dark things in the world. The negativity that my birth religion taught me to feel? It pushed me into the arms of Paganism as I searched for something to make me feel right again.

I spent years fearing this new religion of mine since I was raised to believe it was “dark and evil”. Still, it felt so right to me that I couldn’t ignore it. I became fairly knowledgable in this new religion from having studied so much. You could say I was very religious. But, the day I finally smothered that fear, broke down sobbing and begging in confusion, and invited the divine into my life, I began to TRULY explore and experience the dark unknown forest that is the spirit world. This day, the divine offered me their hands and lit the path for me. That day I let go of my fear and embraced the divine. That is the day I became spiritual and truly discovered not only who I am today, but who I have been throughout all of my existence. It was the most liberating and enlightening day of my life. I have not felt fear in my spirituality since that day, and I discovered that once you stop fearing the divine and accept it into your life with love and no doubt, the divine will embrace you back. You will feel it inside every fibre of your being and it will make itself known like never before.

There comes a time to stop being afraid of the dark unknown, and start exploring it, allowing the divine to light the shadows along the way. This is spirituality, and it is the most rewarding thing you will ever know.

Christianity is a scam business. If you are a Christian you have been scammed.

Don’t believe me, let me put it this way.

They want to sell you a product, that product is salvation/redemption/being saved, however you want to call it.

They sell it like a medicine, only unlike most medicine, they say that literally everyone in the entire world needs this medicine, no exceptions.

The cost of this medicine is not just your money but your obedience as well.

This is how every big evangelist, mega church, The Vatican, and even small local church works.

Big corporations could only dream about the kind of loyalty The Vatican gets.

It’s sad how people obey whomever they fear, when in fact the only one you should obey out of fear is Allah

Blind obedience is fine if it serves my political ends.

And this is coming from someone that
Will never be pregnant
Has never had sex
Has probably never seen a vagina
Has probably never seen childbirth
Has no idea what unwanted pregnancy entails
Definitely has no idea what unwanted child raising requires
Also definitely has no idea what burdens his shitty religion is placing on women
Will never get anyone pregnant
If he did actually get someone pregnant, would have enough money for everything plus extra
Won’t even allow women into his clergy, much less pregnant ones
I mean, come on. What chances does this idiot have of getting anything regarding women’s reproductive health care right, much less condemning them with the blanket generalization of being selfish and afraid?
Seriously. Is this the best person to be deciding women’s futures for them?

Not only are we missing something when fear is absent from religion, but (far worse) we are sinning grievously.   For the absence of the fear of God is arrogance and pride.   How dare sinners sashay up to God as a chum without first falling down in repentance and fear and calling on the Blood of Christ to save us?

Djinns and their role in Psychic Attacks and the Evil Eye (black magic)

mynameisgoddess:

I stumbled upon this site when I was searching for info on Islam and psychics. At first I was O_o then I went O_O.

Interesting~ This is definitely one of the best websites that I’ve found to explain my thoughts and my experiences!! Reading the pages makes me feel like someone understands. I share the exact sentiments, more or less…

When religion is of the man-made variety based on “fear and shame”, and if a person happens to be a bit psychic themselves but not realising it, then so called ‘Black Magic’ or ‘Evil Eye’ will affect that person even more, which makes them still more afraid – it becomes a vicious circle!”

“Like humans, there are both good and bad amongst the Jinn, so we must be careful not to speak in a prejudiced way against Jinn generally!   However, those Jinn that are bad are more effective at being bad than human-spirit counterparts are! because the Jinn are more familiar with the spirit dimensions and even the low minded ones can utilize psychic phenomena that would be beyond the knowledge of low minded human-spirits. Historically within the Muslim lands, the low minded Jinn have caused much problem and fear for un-educated people.”

Prayer and reciting of the Qur’an, while thinking deeply about the meaning of the words is a wonderful protection, especially in moments when we are challenged more that we are ready for - Prayer and reciting of the Qur’an is like invoking a divine protective wall around us, especially Sura 113 Al-Falaq;   However, there is still no substitute for being at One with The Creator with our Soul - The true meaning of Islam!”

There is a reason for my obsession fascination with the supernatural and paranormal.

It’s not about magic per se, nor is it about witchcraft or fortune-telling. It’s bigger and deeper than that. It’s about psychic energies and its relation with the realm of the unseen, also known as the spirit world.

Only people who have been through what I have and is still going through it will understand.

Evirl exists! Of course, evil comes in many forms but it usually revolves around evil djinns (note: NOT ALL djinns are evil because some are quite harmless - they don’t disturb you unless you disturb them first).

Do you all realise that there are websites for summoning jinns? That they are people out there who are studying and practising black bagic? Frankly, this worries me, a lot.

This is why we need more good psychics as healers against psychic attacks and evil eye (black magic). If you think black magic doesn’t exist, think again - it is a little more difficult to heal although psychic attacks are trickier.

There are Muslims who are gifted. Do not be ashamed of your gifts! It’s scary and yes, it’s confusing.

“Psychic energy or ‘Psi’ can therefore, like anything else, be used for bad (evil) purposes, OR it can be used for good purposes like Spiritual Healing. The difference is in the intention!”

You have a duty to explore and enhance your gifts to use it for good. The risk is that whether you do or you don’t, because you have the ability within you, this evil will continue to work to get to you in the hopes of tricking you to the dark side, and the worst of all sins it can get you to commit is SYIRK! I really believe they can sense that you are “special” and so before you destroy them…they destroy you first.

It’s like that “kill or be killed” saying but am not talking about the offence here (why go around looking for trouble?), more like work on your defence against the dark arts (Yay, Harry Potter fans! =P)

So, the first and most important thing to do is to increase your IMAN (increase the spiritual light within you). We can never be totally immune to evil but the level of light we have within will help protect us from evil. It also helps us to fight it!

I always say we fear what we don’t know so up our knowledge on thesebeings. We must to know the world of djinns (especially that of iblis/syaitan, devils/demons) as a way to equip and protect ourselves.

Remember, Allah SWT is the creator of all beings, so we should fear ONLY ALLAH SWT. Nothing bad can happen to you or anyone if Allah SWT doesn’t will it.

“The world of the Jinn is one which is both sinister and intriguing. By knowing of this world we can explain many of the mysteries and issues which bother us. By doing this we can avoid the extremes which the people have gone to; nothing being more extreme then worshipping others besides Allah. By learning the Tawheed of Allah, we defend ourselves from these hidden allies of Iblis:

“Indeed he (Iblis) and his tribe watch you from a position where you cannot see them” (Surah Al-A’raf 7:27)

Maybe there is a Jinn sitting in the corner of your room right now, or even one behind you. If so, then how will you deal with this creation of Allah? Learn Islam properly and you will be able to deal with all of Allah’s creation - and not just the Jinn. By becoming true Muslims and followers of Islam, the fear of Iblis, Jinns and anything else will leave us - nothing will touch the Believer unless Allah wills.”

The excerpts above are from this website - quite comprehensive. Please, always, always double/triple check any information that you find, including what you are reading here.

Let’s up our defences my Muslim brothers and sisters. And, for those of you who have been blessed with gifts, you gotta step up. Have no fear.Wallahuahlam bisawaab.

Easier said than done, I know…but when there’s a calling, you know what to do. InsyaAllah~

Isn’t religious indoctrination adorable?

Dear Satan

unkaglen:

You had me going there for a minute. Things started looking pretty bad, like dang. Things looked like maybe I’d be stuck with this for the rest of my life. But then I remembered that making things look bad is pretty much the only trick you have. I mean, it’s not like you could stop me. If you could stop me, I’d be stopped, right? I mean, you don’t want me to rise up and kick your little red butt (like we both know is gonna happen) so if you could take me out, I’d already be took out.

All you can do is make it LOOK like God’s plan for my life isn’t gonna happen. All you can do is make it LOOK like my blessing is gonna pass me by. And I have to admit, ya had me goin’ for a second, but then I remembered that I’m supposed to walk by faith and not by sight, so it never matters what it looks like. My eyes will deceive me, but my God never will. As 2 Corinthians 4:18 says: “what is seen in temporary, what is unseen is eternal.”

This mess I’m dealing with, it’s really just temporary, and my God will bring me out of it, whereas you… well, you’re still screwed.

Satan doesn’t exist

god doesn’t exist

forget about your fairytales and try personal responsibility for once
