Catholic Charities in Illinois has served for more than 40 years as a major link in the state’s social service network for poor and neglected children. But now most of the Catholic Charities affiliates in Illinois are closing down rather than comply with a new requirement that says they can no longer receive state money if they turn away same-sex couples as potential foster care and adoptive parents.

For the nation’s Roman Catholic bishops, the outcome is a prime example of what they see as an escalating campaign by the government to trample on their religious freedom while expanding the rights of gay people. The idea that religious Americans are now the victims of government-backed persecution is now a frequent theme not just for Catholic bishops, but also for Republican presidential candidates and conservative evangelicals.

“In the name of tolerance, we’re not being tolerated,” said Bishop Thomas J. Paprocki of the Diocese of Springfield, Ill., a civil and canon lawyer who helped drive the church’s losing battle to retain its state contracts for foster care and adoption services.

Formidable opponents
The Illinois experience indicates that the bishops face formidable opponents who also claim to have justice and the Constitution on their side. They include not only gay rights advocates, but also many religious believers and churches that support gay equality (some Catholic legislators among them). They frame the issue as a matter of civil rights, saying that Catholic Charities was using taxpayer money to discriminate against same-sex couples.

1. Will never be pregnant
2. Has never had sex
3. Has probably never seen a vagina
4. Has probably never seen childbirth 
5. Has no idea what unwanted pregnancy entails 
6. Definitely has no idea what unwanted child raising requires
7. Also definitely has no idea what burdens his shitty religion is placing on women
8. Will never get anyone pregnant
9. If he did actually get someone pregnant, would have enough money for everything plus extra
10. Won’t even allow women into his clergy, much less pregnant ones

I mean, come on. What chances does this idiot have of getting anything regarding women’s reproductive health care right, much less condemning them with the blanket generalization of being selfish and afraid?

Seriously. Is this the best person to be deciding women’s futures for them?

When people go around saying fuck God. He has done nothing wrong! He is what has given us the ability to make choices! However, I hate it the most when people blame/use religion for the attacking/support gay marriage or gay rights. 

1. God DOES NOT hate gays. He created everyone the way he meant them to be created. He does not hate his children!

2. The last time I check marriage was a religious ceremony. As a country we have given it social benefits, but is traditional part of religion. With that said, gays should not get married because that is not a religious tradition; however, they should be entitled to the same social benefits that are given to married couples because those benefits are not part of religion but part of the state.

People on both sides need to understand this idea. Gay should be given equal social rights as married partners BUT they could stay in civil unions since marriage is a religious value and there is a separation between church!

p.s to anyone that wants to hate on me for this I am gay and a religious individual. There is no reason why you can’t be both. It just takes some cooperation, it is that simple.

So apparently there’s been this utter bullshit going around about “sacrifices for abortion” or some shit. 

Do I know what that is? No, I don’t. When I see people talking shit about something, I leave it alone. I prefer ignorance; I know humans’ capacity for stupidity, but I don’t want to have to confront it.  

Regardless. Is this stupid? Oh yes, yes it is. Will this do anything? I fucking hope not! But unfortunately, we’re in the kind of country where this shit could have effort somewhere. 

So here’s reality about abortion. No, not “choices.” Not your bullshit “oh my imaginary friend doesn’t like it.” 

It’s about rights. 

EQUAL RIGHTS. This includes equal ACCESS to rights. Equal PROTECTION under law. Equal PROSECUTION under law.  

Here’s how it goes. 

Do men have FULL rights to exercise their reproductive capacities? Are there any laws LIMITING their reproductive choices? 

NO. 

See, wasn’t that fucking simple?

What standard are you judging by? Are you judging that man=human and therefore everyone should be judged by that standard, and therefore pregnancy is extra?

As I said, equality. Equal prosecution, protection, access, rights. This means that a woman’s condition is considered equal to a man’s. That means that her health issues that are specific to her sex are equal to a man’s. That means that pregnancy is not extra. That means that every part of a woman’s health care is held to be equal to a man’s. Equal. One is not more important than another. One does not deserve more protection or allowance or punishment than another. 

So do women deserve reproductive care? Not necessarily; that’s not my argument.

If men get one standard of health care, women get the same. If men get one limit of reproductive facilities, women get the same. If men get one degree of rights for reproduction or health or existence, women get the same. 

EQUAL rights.

Equal rights, motherfuckers. Take your god and shove it. 

And while we’re on the topic of god- since when were your moral standards considered law? Is there such a thing as natural law? Know what- it doesn’t fucking matter. That’s not the way LAWS work. 

Is abortion morally murder? Irrelevant. Is abortion morally wrong? Irrelevant. Is abortion unjust, cruel, heartbreaking, horrible, etc? 

Doesn’t fucking matter. This isn’t a goddamn witch trial. This isn’t about a group of people getting together and deciding that something is personally reprehensible to them. This is about LAW and the legal process which happens to not give two fucks about morality, religion, god, truth, whatever. That’s the way it was designed. And you know why?

It’s the only possible way that EQUAL RIGHTS can exist.
