The Unfriendly Atheist
On religious ‘tolerance’ for homosexual men and women…

whorship:

I keep hearing christian people say that to be gay is not a sin, but to act on this intrinsic homosexuality is.

Like they’re making some great concession for homosexuals or whatever.

I’m sorry. But to love, and to have love, and receive love, and have it soak into every fibre of your being, is one of the most beautiful experiences on this planet. More than that - it’s a necessity for most. It fills a hole in the heart.

So I don’t care how tolerant or kind you think you are for saying that a gay person, as a person, is not a sin. By imposing upon them ‘a call to chastity’ (yes, that’s a direct quote from the catechism) because of their sexual orientation, you are denying them the basic human need for love. And to deny someone a necessity for life because of the way they are born… why, I think that’s called discrimination.

And what’s crazy is, you ‘kind’, ‘loving’, ‘tolerant’ christians seem to think that your harmful - and in some cases life destroying - sin of prejudice is not nearly as awful as the entirely harmless ‘sin’ of homosexual love between two men, or two women.

I wonder what your god has to say about that.

Sexual Sin….who’s fault is it?

Do you ever get the feeling that religion completely removes all sentience and logic from people’s minds?

smilingatthefuture:

Created in response to Toronto police officer’s suggestion that women could best prevent rape by wearing less revealing clothing, the SlutWalks spread the simple message that no matter what wears, no woman is “asking for it.”  Women are not the gatekeepers of civilized behavior.  Men are not so weak that they can be tempted to rape or cheat merely by the sight of bare skin.   It is a misunderstanding of both biology and psychology to suggest otherwise.

Rabbi Linzer rightly points out that the Talmud makes it clear that men — and men alone — are responsible for their lustful thoughts.

http://jezebel.com/5878017/calling-bullshit-on-religious-misogyny

Honestly, as a woman this bugs me…seriously. I am quite agitated. Do I believe that ultimately each person is responsible for their own sin? YES! Do I believe that the guy who makes a decision to commit adultery or to dabble in fornication should be able to push the blame off on women? Not at all. But do I believe that this gives women the excuse to parade their bodies around as a billboard for sex? By no means!

Jesus Christ on a cracker

Women, forget who’s fault it is ultimately,

because it’s obviously YOURS, you dirty whore

forget the questioned verses in the article quoted above, and lets look at the scripture as a whole. I can tell you, ultimately his sin IS his own, but you will be judged for yours.

Specifically, having a body that god gave you and not conducting your affairs inside a wooden box.

“But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints.” ~Ephesians 5:3 ESV

Ladies, your immodesty

*dressing how you want

puts your body on display

*does not make you an object or a mannequin

to be a image to be worshiped for sex,

sex. is. not. defined as. straight men’s interests.

Jesus assfucking Christ on a cracker.

to be coveted by men…

someone kill me already

who’s putting it on display?

NO ONE. Women aren’t advertisements, they’re human fuckin’ beings.

you…who is dabbling in sexual immorality?

Whoever fuckin’ wants to?

YOU. Who is dangling something out there to be coveted? YOU.

I don’t think “dangling” is the right choice of words.

Think about this, remember when you were a kid, and some little girl would have the toy you wanted. It may not have necessarily been her fault that she had it, or that you wanted it. If you retaliated simply because she had it that would be one thing, that would be completely your fault. But the moment she dangled it in front of you and began to taunt you, it became hateful on her part, right?

Yes, women!

When you walk around and conduct your own damn business your are “dangling” your body in front of straight men, who are just running around crazed with the desire to rape every feminine human out there. You are teasing them, taunting them, tempting them, trying to force them to give in to their innocent, humble, normal desires.

Sluts.

It still didn’t give you an excuse to retaliate, and if you did, you paid for it, but it did provoke you didn’t it…she was no longer exempt from punishment.

Are you being hateful?

Bitch, you’re the only hateful one here.

Yes, it is your body, and yes, no one can keep you from dressing like you want, doing what you want, doing whatever you want to do, but is it beneficial to your Christian walk?

Fuck your Christian walk. Your Christ sounds like he sucks, and your Christianity sounds like it sucks even more.

Is it beneficial to other’s Christian walk?

Fuck their Christian walk.

Does your goddamn religion say that women need to wear wool garments over every inch of flesh? Then fucking wear it. Is it my business? No.

So if their goddamn religion says that women need to cover up and etc., is it their business or women’s business? hm?

“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything.” ~1 Corinthians 6:12-13

Here Paul is talking about what believers should eat, but I think it can be applied to every area of our Christian lives. A little later on, he basically repeats the same line.

“All things are lawful,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful,” but not all things build up. Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor.

~1 Corinthians 10:23-24

Ladies, I cannot stress this enough, yes you can do it, but is it beneficial?

Yeah, fuck what you want to do with your religion, there are MEN’S BONERS AT STAKE HERE PEOPLE

And if you don’t care, you need to get on your knees before God and confess your selfishness.

“Dear god, I’m so sorry! I didn’t put straight men’s rape culture ahead of my wardrobe choices!!”

Let God break you of that and then let Him convict you of everything else.

Sheesh, it sounds like god does a pretty good job of breaking people…

Precious sisters, we need to be above reproach. Am I saying you need to dress in floor length baggy dresses and long sleeve turtlenecks? NO…

You’re just IMPLYING it.

I’m saying, dress with dignity.

Whatever the fuck that is.

Dress with grace.

Also whatever the fuck that is. Conveniently, it’s probably not what you’re wearing.

Dress to the glory of God, not the glory of self.

Dress for the paranoia of Christian misogyny, not for your daily function.

Self-promotion is a sin of selfishness, and it is not pleasing to the Lord.

The lord sounds like a dick.

As far as where to place the blame….why is that necessary?

Because when someone does something it’s their own goddamn fault.

Sin is sin. We don’t need to place blame, we need to obliterate the need for blame.

We don’t need to blame sexual harassers for harassment, we need to obliterate their victims.

The blame game is simply a distraction from the sin.

Why, now, isn’t that convenient?

It is stirring up divisions and starting battles among Christians, among brothers and sisters in Christ. Guys, this is DUMB.

Actually, your religion kind of sucks.

“If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.” ~Romans 12:18

As far as guys, you have no excuse.

EXCEPT FOR THE ONES LISTED ABOVE LOL

You alone are ultimately accountable for your sin.

But not really! Those sluts, who can stand ‘em, ya know?

Someone else’s sin is not a valid excuse for yours.

But let’s not play the blame game.

If you seek to blame your sisters for your sin, you are a coward, and you need to fess up.

After blaming them.

I am not a guy, and I do not pretend to know how hard it is for you to deal with this,

OH GOD THE PRESSURE OF NOT RAPING/ASSAULTING/HARASSING PEOPLE I CAN’T TAKE IT ANYMORE

but you need to step up and take responsibility. I know it can be hard.

Dude, tell me about it! I’ve assaulted 232348275810 people in my lifetime.

Trust me, they deserved it.

I have guy friends. I’ve seen them engage in battle over and over with this.

“Christ on a cracker! Get away from me!”

“Uh, I’m engaging in battle right now. Stop tempting me, sinner!”

I know you are blasted daily by this.

You poor, poor men. My heart is bleeding.

BE PROACTIVE.

Blame women BEFORE you harass them.

That same scripture up there, yeah, you know, the one about there being no hint of sexual immorality…that applies to you as well.

Just not as much.

Be prayed up. You can’t do it on your own.

I never realized not raping people was such an unbearable trial.

Be accountable to someone. Not only to an accountability partner, but by your actions, let your friends know, hey, this is something I don’t do.

An “accountability partner”? Christ on a cracker, are you out of your mind?

Here, I got a tip for you Christian assholes: every time you find yourself harassing/assaulting a woman, shoot yourself in the fuckin’ face.

See? No “accountability partners” needed.

And let them call you out when you do. Avert your eyes. Even if every Christian girl was covered up….there are still women out there who are not seeking to build you up and to protect you.

You mean there are women who don’t exist to suit my boner?! THE HORROR

You HAVE to learn to be alert, and to divert yourself.

It’s a trial, but we’re supporting you!! <3

We need to stop placing blame, and look at ourselves.

It’s funny how it’s all about placing blame when women are victimized, and then it’s about not placing blame when men do something wrong.

Ask yourself, what can I, as an individual (male or female) do to avoid this. We need to obliterate even the smallest HINT of sexual immorality.

Starting with religious excuses to rape culture.

When in doubt, let’s take Paul’s advice….

“I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called,  with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”

~Ephesians 4:1-3

I missed the part about “sluts deserve it” in that one.

Top Ten Signs You’re a Fundamentalist Christian

coolatheist:

10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.

9 - You feel insulted and “dehumanized” when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.

- You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.

7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the “atrocities” attributed to Allah, but you don’t even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in “Exodus” and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in “Joshua” including women, children, and trees!

6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.

5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old.

4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs — though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering.  And yet consider your religion the most “tolerant” and “loving.”

3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in “tongues” may be all the evidence you need to “prove” Christianity.

2 - You define 0.01% as a “high success rate” when it comes to answered prayers.  You consider that to be evidence that prayer works.  And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.

1 - You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a Christian.

loveforallbabies:

Pregnancy is NOT ABOUT YOU!

It’s about religious beliefs you don’t belong to!

THAT BABY IS…say it with me, AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT PERSON!!

Well, actually, legally, it isn’t a person.

Medically, it’s an entirely different existence, but so the bacteria living in your digestive tract.

Yep they’re in YOUR body, but you CHOSE to put them there!

Yep! Went to K Mart and picked ‘em out.

If you hadn’t had sex, that human being would not be growing, understand?

HOW IS BABBY FORMED

WHY GIRL NOT GET PRAGNANT ALL TIME

STILL STONE AGE

So why in the world are you now complaining that if abortion was illegal you would have no choice?? Um…YOU CHOSE TO HAVE SEXUAL INTERCOURSE!! YOU chose WHO you would have sex with!

See, if you would have just gayed it up, you’d be fine right now.

Homosexuality is always the solution.

Nobody made that decision for you!! and don’t come to me saying, ’ what about the girls who are raped?’ They only make up less than 1% of all abortions!

Abortions as a result of rape are REPORTED as 1%.

That figure doesn’t include:

  • people whose religion coerced them into not using contraception
  • people whose religion coerced them into having specifically procreative sex
  • people who have been brainwashed by rampant misogyny into doing whatever their partner wants
  • people who have limited access to contraceptives thanks to fuckheads like OP

Yes, look it up this is a fact! I’m sure you went to school so you learned that sex causes what??

Idiotic Christians who can’t seem to fathom a world where humanity can operate on a super-animal level?

Hmmm….PREGNANCY!

Sweetie, nobody has ever gotten pregnant as a result of my fucking. That’s not how it works. Sex = pregnancy isn’t reality, it’s religion.

If you would be soo mad about your OWN child growing in your uterus then you should NOT have made one!

So put the fuckin’ fetus kit back on the shelf, goddamnit Ethel! You’ve made enough of those!

That child is COMPLETELY innocent,

Actually. If it were able to be legally responsible for anything (being a legal person, which it isn’t), it would be GUILTY of trespass, theft, and a host (heh) of other issues.

and having abortion is not about YOUR body,

It’s about the religion of someone else. Duh.

it’s involving a totally seperate person,

The cosmic Jewish zombie lich god

whom YOU are killing!

I hope you’ve never menstruated or fapped.

Women, you have LOTS of choices when it comes to YOUR body,

Such as homosexuality obv

but that baby is not one because he/she is NOT YOU.

Legally, and medically, it is.

I know this will make people mad, I DON’T CARE it needs to be said.

End rant.

“I know this will make people mad” < said whenever someone is about to spout a bunch of lies and nonsense for propaganda purposes

thisoddone asked: Christian lesbian here. Yeah, some aspects of our religion seem silly and a lot of my fellow Christians are hypocrites, I get that. Making light of Satan, I can even see that. Saying Satan>God…I’m sorry, but I’m not okay with that. Would you post a picture of a burning Koran if it was in a funny homosexual situation?

lgbtlaughs:

lol i frankly don’t care if you’re not okay with that. the worst me posting stuff that is humorously anti-god does is hurt your feefees. it doesn’t enable a culture that marginalised you based on your religion. pro-tip: people disagreeing with the dogma of christianity, or even being “mean” about your beliefs =/= marginalisation. christianity is way too favoured for any such action to have any real impact.

and comparing me saying that satan is better than god to hypothetically burning the Islamic holy book is really super gross. that shit’s not cute.

London buses have been booked to carry a Christian advertising campaign expected to start next week, which asserts the power of therapy to change the sexual orientation of gay people.

The full length advert, which will appear on five different routes in the capital, is backed by the Core Issues Trust whose leader, Mike Davies, believes “homoerotic behaviour is sinful”. His charity funds “reparative therapy” for gay Christians who believe that they have homosexual feelings but want to become straight. The campaign is also backed by Anglican Mainstream, an worldwide orthodox Anglican group whose supporters have equated homosexuality with alcoholism.

The campaign is an explicit attempt to hit back at gay rights group Stonewall, which ran its own bus advert saying: “Some people are gay. Get over it”. The Christian groups have used the same black, red and white colour scheme as Stonewall and accuses it of promoting the “false idea that there is indisputable scientific evidence that people are born gay”.

Hold on, hold on…

crinklycree:

So…you’re telling me God, right, the most powerful entity in LIFE itself…created light.

He was all “Hey, light. Ka-pow.” and it was there. …and then he created the world. …and then he populated the world with animals.

…and then he created Adam and Lilith…but Lilith screwed up, she was all “…pardon? You want me to…what now? Bow down to Adam? …be his, what, maid or something? Erm…no, thanks. I, err…yeh, no.”

So she was exiled from Eden. …so he then created Eve. …and Eve was much more, y’know, easy…going.

So, then time passes. Abel dies, Cain’s chased away, things happen, life goes on…then NOAH comes along and by this time God is PISSED.

He’s all like “Oh…my…ME…look at THIS! Look at this world! Total…it’s just ridiculous! I, God, am at a lost for words! This is a FIRST! I’ve not been this angry since Lucifer got his ego out and started pissing up the walls!”

So he tells Noah to save 2 of every animal, and he does, and that ‘cos he was just and moral and lovely he and his family can be spared…right? So…he then destroys the world.

The world is flooded.

Sin - GONE!

See YA later! …in HELL!!

…yeh, so…God can do all of that. …but when it comes to gays he can’t just…stop them from being gay? What? Does he get some kind of kick from creating gay people and then watching his followers go BATSHIT about them?

Like, i dunno, throwing a bunch of red ants with a group of black ants and watching them tear each other apart?

I don’t get it. I really don’t.

…and so, it’s wrong.

That theory, that idea that God’s hatin’ on gays.

Totally wrong.

God, if he/she/it exists, doesn’t care.

And by saying he/she/it does, and by acting like a total douche and wanting to stamp out on that pesky equality…you’re kinda screwing him/her/it over.

You’re turning more people away.

You’re making more people angry at him/her/it.

Maybe you should just, i dunno, calm down about it. Chill out. Jesus was a chilled guy. He was pretty laid-back and all about offering a helping hand. …but ‘cos the people who wrote about him quickly scribbled in something to do with sodomites, literally, one LINE, you suddenly think that it’s okay to deprive an entire people of equality?

Nice one(!)

I’m glad you’ll be doing the explaining to God when he/she/it says “Bro, seriously, i’m all about the love and the peace…what was that anti-gay shit about?”

Awkward.

Amen.

As if adolescence wasn’t already hard enough, LGBT students in Louisiana have a new reason to fear for their existence.

In a 5-1 vote on Thursday, a state Senate committee overwhelmingly approved bill 217, which if passed into law would give publically funded charter schools the right to refuse to admit students based on sexual orientation, among other irrational and vile reasons such as English language skills.

The Advocate (not the LGBT publication of the same name) reports:

“State Sen. A.G. Crowe [pictured left], R-Slidell, said his bill is designed to ensure that executive branch agencies and local governments stop including bans on discrimination against characteristics not listed in state law as a condition for private companies to do business with their agencies… On the other side, state Sen. Ed Murray, the only “no” in the 5-1 vote by the Senate Labor and Industrial Relations committee, said the possibility of SB217 becoming law and negating the anti-discriminatory prohibitions in charter school contracts is “really scary.”

Though Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal refused to comment on the matter, his press secretary, Frank Collins, wrote in an email (or rather, his Tea Party propaganda machine): “We’re against discrimination, but we don’t believe in special protections or rights.”
