The Unfriendly Atheist

wishingtoforget:

In the Garden of Eden, two trees were planted by God: the Tree of Knowledge and the Tree of Life. The Tree of Knowledge granted wisdom in the place of innocence while the Tree of Life granted immortality. Adam and Eve ate from the Tree of Knowledge and were exiled from their paradise by God to be prevented from also eating from the Tree of Life. Which fruit would you have eaten?

I’d rather knowledge that ends with death than life without knowledge- that’s basically living without sentience, which is what death is. At least this way, I can see reality and choose to enjoy it for a brief time before fading into nothingness. The other way, without being conscious and having knowledge of the world around me, well that’s not sentience, that’s pretty much what death is anyways.
